Calvinism doesn't rescue anyone

Image
Calvinism doesn’t rescue any sinner from hell.  Because the elect were never on their way to hell, never at risk of going to hell at any point in time ... and the non-elect can never be rescued from hell because Calvi-Jesus never died for them and because Calvi-god made it impossible for them to believe. All Calvinism does is convince some people that they’ve always been saved without ever having to do anything about it, not even choosing to believe in Jesus (because in Calvinism, we  can't  choose to believe), while convincing others that they can never be saved, that God doesn’t love them, that Jesus didn’t die for them, and that there’s no hope for them. A lie from the pit of hell.  Destroying the evangelical church from the inside out.  And it will cost people their souls. [A comment I left on the Soteriology 101 post  "(Re)Thinking through Romans 9" , with a few small alterations.  And of course, not all Calvinists will word things this way. ...

Calvinism's Heart-Breaking Destruction

Wanna see some of the real-life destruction that Calvinism does to hearts, souls, and faith?   Here are some comments (warning: bad language ahead) from a Reddit post called  "Calvinism is disgusting" , showing how people - who don't realize that Calvinism is NOT biblical - have been hurt by Calvinism and have ended up rejecting God altogether instead of just rejecting Calvinism.  Sadly, it's because they don't know that there's a  big difference  between the God of the Bible and the god of Calvinism, between the Bible's hope-filled gospel and Calvinism's sick, hopeless, twisted half-gospel. The reddit post starts out with this comment (I added punctuation to make it easier to read):  "I had a discussion with a Calvinist last night and it's more gross than I thought.  After questioning him for over an hour, it basically boiled down to the dude admitting that god predestined innocent children to a life of suffering and then hell, and that same ...

Giggle Translate #16: Flying Tic Tacs

Every so often, for a giggle (or to distract myself from anxious thoughts), I will run something I wrote through many different languages on google translate, just to see the wonky results.    Here’s one I posted on my other blog when I wasn't adding new posts to this one.   It's something I wrote to a friend awhile ago, about an embarrassing moment I once had.  I google-translated it  several times, just to see what came up.  If there's any inappropriate translation, blame google translate. The original story: I was thinking about this embarrassing moment the other day, and I couldn’t stop giggling.    I can’t remember if I already told you about it, but I thought you might enjoy it. Awhile back, I was making polite chit-chat with the teenage boy who was the cashier at Trader Joe’s.    I was already feeling quite old and ragged that day.    But to make it worse, as I was talking with him and looking right at him as he was look...

Cindy's Comment on Theistic Evolution vs. A Literal Genesis

(Happy 4th, America!  I'm sorry for what's being done to you.) There's a comment from someone named Cindy in the comment section of a post on theistic evolution vs. a literal Genesis.   (Actually, the post is really just a nasty attack on Ken Ham.)  Since the author of that blog stopped allowing comments on that post - it appears she didn't want any more opposing voices - I wanted to post the comment I like and agree with here, since I couldn't agree with it there.   [Note: I have linked to this blog before when it comes to Calvinism, but I don't like the tone the author is taking in the post I linked to above, her attacks on Ken Ham and those who believe in a young earth, that God created the universe in 6 days.  (For the record, I really like and respect Ken Ham, and I agree with him.)  I'm not sure what her deal is, but it bothers me.  And I find it a little concerning that after her strong stances against Calvinism, she would affirm a Calvinis...

The other day, I told my sons that if they can't find the official "doggie bags," they can use plastic grocery-store bags (we have an over-abundance of them) to clean up after our dog on walks.   In response, my 13-year-old son delighted to inform me that "Mom, if you use a Walmart bag to clean up dog poop on the side of the road, you'll look like a crazy lady.  Especially with the kind of hair you have." Me:
