This is another good testimony of what sucks people into Calvinism and what helps get them out of it.  (Although I am not an Arminian, I do think they are closer to the truth than Calvinism, except mainly for their view that you can lose your salvation.)  

It took a lot of guts - after 20 years of being a Calvinist - to begin asking himself if there was another way to read the Bible than the Calvinist way he was taught, and to admit to himself, "Whatever it cost me (and I knew it could cost me everything!), I want to know the truth!"

Trust us, we understand.  It cost us our church of 20 years, our friendships from that church, our children's friendships, and our reputation.

But some things are worth it!  And God's reputation, good character, and the Gospel Truth are worth the sacrifice!

So hell isn't real?

So there's this popular preacher who says that hell isn't real , that it's a fantasy. It's no wonder he's popular. Do you know who wasn't popular? Jesus and those who were faithful to Him! Because people don't like being told the truth when it infringes on their lifestyle and on the things they want to believe.   The Truth is offensive ... but it's the Truth that saves! I wonder what Bible that preacher is reading!  Because it's not the one I have.  Want to know what mine says about hell? Matthew 10:28:   "Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul.  Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell." Be Wary Of The Christian Post

(Written 6/15/18)  Occasionally, I check in with the Christian Post to see what's going on in the world that specifically relates to Christians.  And generally, I've never really had any red flags go up about this website ... until now. A recent article by Stoyan Zaimov, with a title that starts "Christian Lesbian rock star ..." goes on to share this woman's story about being assaulted by a male priest when she was young.   However, I don't think the reason for this article is to talk about the abuse she suffered and her courage in speaking up.  I think this is a deliberate attempt to affirm Christian homosexuality.  The very fact that they put "Christian" and "lesbian" in the title makes it sound like it's indeed possible to be a Christian and a practicing homosexual who sees no need to change. (Oh, how we love nonsense in our country!) We women are fighting so hard to be like men, to downplay femininity, to be perceived as more masculine, to overtake any "men's realm" we find.   Because it’s “cool” and “progressive” and “strong.” But do we not realize that we are not “leveling the playing field” so much as we are destroying ourselves , the things that make women special? Women can be strong, too.   And they don’t have to be like men to do it.   Trust me, I know.  I've had four children, one by c-section and three by natural, drug-free homebirth (with over 15 hours of labor for each one).  And then I work in the home every day, all day long.  No pay.  No vacation time.  No weekends off.  No bonuses.  No overtime pay. The Liberal's Reaction to Election Fraud (and some encouraging Bible verses)

Just Gotta Say I Feel Good Today

I just gotta say that I feel pretty good today.  It's been awhile since I've felt so ... relieved, I guess.   And I think it really helped to vent the other day .  To complain a bit.  To not have to try so hard to filter everything I say.  (And yet, I did filter.  I was careful.)  But it felt good to be honest.  As honest as I could be. And it helped that an eye visit for two of my sons (right after I wrote that post)went well.   Given all the "waiting for the next pummeling" that I tend to feel every day, I have a really hard time handling some of the most basic things that other people can easily handle.  Last minute changes in plans throw me for a loop.  Too many things scheduled in one week (say, 2-3 things) stresses me out.  Being asked "How are you doing?" makes me want to activate my cloaking device.  Allowing the kids to drive in a car with anyone other than me or my husband freaks me out.  (I used to be...

Motherhood: It's not just something to do while you wait for a "real job" to come along. Motherhood IS the job - the job that matters most. Pour your heart into it.  Give it your all, your best.  "Just a mom" is an incredible privilege and a blessed responsibility.  Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Y ou might feel like you don't mean much to the world, but you can bet that you mean the world to your children!             A famous actress  recently said that monogamy is hard.   And she said that monogamy being hard for everyone is proof that it’s not natural.   And, therefore, the obviously conclusion is that because it’s not natural, we shouldn’t have to abide by such an unnatural restriction.               How sad!   And how tragic that young people will look up to her and her advice and use it as an excuse to live any way they want.               What she’s saying is that how easy something is or how fun it is or how much we desire to do it determines how “natural” it is.   And since we can’t fight what’s "natural," we should just go with it and do it.   We should let our desires be our guide for right and wrong.        ...
