American Noise

I was driving the other day, and this song began playing from a CD my husband had in the CD player.  I had never heard it before, but for some reason, it struck me.  I don't know why, but it did.  It struck me ... and it stuck with me.

 Skillet - American Noise

 I don't know ... maybe it's about a sense of hope in the middle of the chaos.  The fact that things are going to be rough, but that there is still good there and good can still come out of it all.  

 It got to me. 

 I think sometimes we all need a little of that hope and love that cut through the American Noise.  

 At least, I know I do!

Feminism Nonsense (repost)

(Oh, how we love nonsense in our country!) We women are fighting so hard to be like men, to downplay femininity, to be perceived as more masculine, to overtake any "men's realm" we find.   Because it’s “cool” and “progressive” and “strong.” But do we not realize that we are not “leveling the playing field” so much as we are destroying ourselves , the things that make women special? Women can be strong, too.   And they don’t have to be like men to do it.   Trust me, I know.  I've had four children, one by c-section and three by natural, drug-free homebirth (with over 15 hours of labor for each one).  And then I work in the home every day, all day long.  No pay.  No vacation time.  No weekends off.  No bonuses.  No overtime pay. [This is an update of my original post   on this topic.  I wanted to shorten it a bit, make it more readable, and add few notes, verses, and links.] (Okay, so, I'm gonna try to contain my anger with Calvinism on this one, but I'm not going to do a good job of it.) Let me start by saying that I believe that babies and mentally-handicapped people are not held accountable for being unable to trust in Jesus as Lord and Savior.  I believe that in their innocent state, God covers them with His saving grace.  As we age, though, we learn about right and wrong and become capable of making conscious decisions, and it is then that we become accountable for our decisions. It's so sad to hear about all the celebrities who have recently committed suicide (or about anyone who has committed suicide, for that matter).  My heart breaks for them, for the pain they went through, and for the ones who love them, for the pain they are now going through.  It is truly a tragedy. Support for Jesus and the Bible

Although almost every other major religion out there acknowledges that Jesus really did live, there are still people who insist He is a fairy tale, like a mythological legend from ancient history.  Or they believe that He was a real man but never claimed to be God, that His followers made it up after He died.  And many believe that the Bible, though a good book, was written just from men’s minds and wasn’t really God-inspired. Silencing The Transgender Truth?

So there's a study coming out that says that children are swayed into being transgender because of their "transgender" friends. Actually, I should say that it was going to come out.  But it's being "silenced" so that it doesn't offend or hinder the LGBTQ community. I find it funny that the LGBTQ community had to silence a study that is simply reporting common sense. Anyone who knows anything about human behavior knows that people - especially kids - are susceptible to peer pressure.  Anyone who knows anything will know that if we put "transgender" in the news more and more, and if we talk about it more and more in school, and if we normalize it and we tell people there is no gender and we celebrate those who come out as "transgender" and hold them up as some sort of posterchild ... then more and more kids are going to want to become transgender (or begin to think they are transgender).  It's the cool thing to do right now.  ...

Jesus Meant Birth Control?

I'm pretty sure Jesus didn't mean "birth control" when He said, "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." Wait, let me check the Scriptures ... checking ... checking ... Yep, no birth control mentioned there. And besides that ... isn't "birth control" the opposite of "life"?  If Jesus meant "birth control" wouldn't He have said, "I have come that they may stop life, and stop it fully"? And you know what, Mrs. Baker? In John 10:10 , Jesus wasn't talking about advocating for social causes and rights so that people can live their lives in whatever way they want.   It has nothing to do with the society we create.  Nothing to do with giving people the social/legal rights they want.  Nothing to do with getting the life we want on earth. Is Our Eternity Decided For Us?

Since we've been talking about the End Times and heaven and hell, the next logical question might be ... "But do we even have a choice about our eternal 'destinies'?  Do we have the free-will to choose Jesus and heaven, or does God predestine us to heaven or hell?" Maybe this question won't cross the minds of many of you.  But it's one I have studied and thought about a lot ... mostly because we have a pastor who hammers the idea of predestination, acting like anyone who disagrees with him is disagreeing with the Bible and dishonoring God.  Like his view is the only way to read the Bible!
