Calvinism: False Gospel or True (but warped) Gospel?

Here are some new comments  which were recently added to the Soteriology 101 post  Calvinism Obscures the Simple Gospel .  It's kinda a  friendly "debate" among non-Calvinists about if Calvinism is merely a warped version of the true gospel or if it's a false gospel.   (These are lightly edited for clarity.) I  found a lot more names to add to my list of known Calvinists (found in my various  "How to Tell if a Church, Pastor, or Website is Calvinist"  posts).  But instead of adding this huge list to all those posts, I am going to put it here, and I'll just provide a link on those posts to this one.  [FYI: I added a note at the bottom of this post on May 5, 2021.] So here it is, a "master list" of known Calvinists to help you be careful and discerning about who you listen to and where you get your theology from.  There are plenty more Calvinists out there, but these are just the names that I ran across the most.   These are either definite, self-professed Calvinists or "most likely Calvinist," in my estimation.  (I haven't heard of most of them, but it's good to know their theology before I do.)   After finding these names in various places online, I looked up each person to see if they are Calvinist.  If they did not self-identify ...

(Happy New Year!)  Please, allow me to vent and to listen to myself rant.  And come along, if you want, on a trip through m y mind  (I apologize in advance for how the messy it is😉) : Are you exhausted?  I am.  I am sick and tired of all the craziness out there, all the chaos, fighting, hate, lies, fear-mongering, violence, increasing prices (for less product or services), natural disasters, wars, rumors of wars, AI this-and-that, Big Pharma, social deviance/immorality, efforts to force people to tolerate social deviance/immorality, political posturing and mudslinging and nonsense, etc.  ("You can stop the world now, God.  We wanna get off.")   I am sick of both social media and the news - because everyone just wants to fight, scream their opinions, demand their way, calls names, make accusations, and force everyone else to agree with them and do things their way.  E verything's an "us vs them" thing, and "if you don't agree with 'us' ...

[I'm sneaking this post in between the regular bi-weekly (every other week) posts on both this blog and my Anti-Calvinist Rant blog.  (Did you know that bi-weekly can mean both "every other week" and "twice a week"?  What the heck, those are like total opposites!)] Commenter Senior-Emergency-944   started a thread  on Reddit/Reformed   called  Part of me wants to affirm it. But how do you refute this?!  which linked to my post  "But Calvinists don't say God causes sin and evil!" , asking for advice on how to refute the Calvinist quotes I shared about God causing evil.  If I was able to reply to Senior (I don't have a reddit account), I would've said this... TULIP's Totally-Depraved Doctrine (a snippet)

[This is a snippet from  another post (but slightly updated here) that will be coming up later.]  Calvinism's TULIP petals are all built on each other, one after the next.  And it all starts with "total depravity" (their bad definition of it) : R.C. Sproul  ( Total Depravity part 1 ) :   "... if a person really embraces the doctrine of total depravity, the other four points in this five-point system more or less fall in line. They become corollaries of this first point." And so if they can get you to buy into their view of total depravity (as "total inability"), they can easily get you to buy into their whole TULIP, ensuring that you will become a Calvinist. Because if we are "totally unable" to believe on our own, then God has to decide who believes (unconditional election)...  which necessarily implies a "limited atonement" because Calvi-Jesus wouldn't die for those predestined to reject him...   which then requires "irre...

Why am I so harsh towards Calvinism?

I added this as a final post on my anti-Calvinism blog , but I want to share it here too - because all over my blogs, you'll see that I am not kind towards Calvinism.  I take very strong stands against it, to the point of calling it a false gospel.  And occasionally, I've been called out by other Christians, even by non-/anti-Calvinists, for being too harsh.   Why would I be so harsh against other Christians?  Why would I call Calvinism (which correctly says we need to "believe in Jesus and be saved") a "false gospel," instead of saying (as one non-Calvinist said) that it's the "true gospel, just deformed"?  Why do I take such a strong, ungracious stand against it?  Can't we all just get along? This is the last half of the post "What's The Best Way To Make People Agree With Your Calvinist Views."   But I put it here in its own post so that it's easier to find. After constantly hearing how gracious Leighton Flowers ( Soteriology 101 ) is to everyone, even Calvinists whom he severely disagrees with, I feel convicted about something... And so right now, I do hereby apologize to James White for constantly referring to him as "weasely" whenever I quoted him saying that God had to  decree child-rape  or else it would be a meaningless and purposeless evil.   I mean, of course, Jesus had a few choice ways of describing people (particularly religious, high-and-mighty, false teachers who led others astray): dogs, pigs, hypocrites, wolves, wicked, adulterous, prideful, glory-seeking, whitewashed tombs full of dead men's bones, blind guides, sons of hell, snakes, brood of vipers, internally-dirty cups, greedy, self-indulgent, etc.  [And here's some good advice from White himself: "Jesus did not seem to believe that you should soften hard words."😆]*   But Jesus never called anyone "weasely".
