It's so sad to hear about all the celebrities who have recently committed suicide (or about anyone who has committed suicide, for that matter).  My heart breaks for them, for the pain they went through, and for the ones who love them, for the pain they are now going through.  It is truly a tragedy. The Case for Christ

If you haven’t seen The Case for Christ , the movie based on Lee Strobel’s life, you should see it  ( here's the movie trailer ) .   It’s good.   It’s about his journey to Christ, from being an atheist who was very skeptical about Christianity and who only responded to “facts” to finally finding the evidence for Christ so overwhelming that he couldn’t help but believe.  [Here's the hour-long documentary: The Case for Christ. ]  What I liked about it was the two different ways that we see him and his wife come to Christ.   She came to Christ through her emotions, through the pull on her heart, as though she knew it was the truth without needing the facts first.   But he came to Christ through his mind, through researching the facts about Christ’s death and resurrection and the validity of the Bible. Giggle Translate #4: My Garden (My Favorite)

This has got to be my favorite Giggle Translates for one reason only.  You'll see why later.  I was actually nervous copying and pasting it, because I was so afraid I would accidentally delete it or alter it.  But, phew, it's all good.  Anyway, I am not going to repost the original post but you can read it if you click on it.  It's called  "My Garden." Is Calvinism's TULIP Biblical? (Perseverance of the Saints)

This is part three of three.  ( Click here for the whole one. ) 5.  Perseverance of the Saints I agree with Calvinists in principle on this point, but not for the reasons they say.    This point - this TULIP petal - basically boils down to “you can’t lose your salvation” (the only part I agree with), b ut where I  stop agreeing with them is their belief that the reason the elect can't lose their salvation is because God predestined them for heaven, causes them to believe, and will cause them to persevere in the faith all the way to the end of their lives.    This  sounds  good (if not for the fact that its foundation is an unbiblical view of predestination) and it brings Calvinists a lot of comfort in their “eternal security,” that if God predestined them for heaven and caused them to believe then they can never lose their faith/salvation. (Oh, how we love nonsense in our country!) We women are fighting so hard to be like men, to downplay femininity, to be perceived as more masculine, to overtake any "men's realm" we find.   Because it’s “cool” and “progressive” and “strong.” But do we not realize that we are not “leveling the playing field” so much as we are destroying ourselves , the things that make women special? Women can be strong, too.   And they don’t have to be like men to do it.   Trust me, I know.  I've had four children, one by c-section and three by natural, drug-free homebirth (with over 15 hours of labor for each one).  And then I work in the home every day, all day long.  No pay.  No vacation time.  No weekends off.  No bonuses.  No overtime pay.
